Main Window

The TrackShare main window changes depending on whether you are logged in or out, and whether devices are connected. The following screenshots identify the main components of the user interface.

Logged Out

  1. Enter your username (logon name) here to sign in to the server
  2. Enter your password here to sign to the server
  3. If ticked, your username and password will be remembered when you exit or reboot. Upon next launch TrackShare will automatically log back in again.
  4. Press this button after filling in your 1) username and 2) password to sign in to the server.
  5. Online/offline indicator. Currently indicating that you are not signed in to the server.
  6. Opens the backups folder containing your GPX backup files.
  7. Opens the TrackShare options/settings dialog. See TrackShare Options.
  8. Register for a new account with TrackShare . See Registering A New Account.

Logged In

  1. Displays the currently logged in user, and their associated company.
  2. Logs out of TrackShare so another user may log in.
  3. If you have a GPX file you wish to upload, simply drag-and-drop it here and TrackShare will handle the rest.
    Alternatively, click the browse button and use the Open File dialog to select the GPX files you wish to upload.
  4. Online/offline indicator. Currently indicating that you are signed in to the server.
  5. Indicates the percentage usage of your storage quota. When the bar turns entirely orange your storage allocation is full.
  6. Indicates the percentage usage of your monthly upload quota. When the bar turns entirely orange your upload quota is full.
  7. Opens the track uploads page of your account in the web browser.
  8. Opens the backups folder containing your GPX backup files.
  9. Opens the TrackShare options/settings dialog. See TrackShare Options.

Devices Connected

Each connected device shows up using it’s own

  1. Device status indicator.
    Green = ready
    Yellow = busy/active
    Red = error
    Download icon = retrieving tracks from device
    USB disk with exclamation mark icon = disconnected
    USB disk with arrow icon = ready to be unplugged
  2. Network status indicator. Indicates offline, online, uploading, downloading.
  3. Device information – device name, model & ID.
  4. The number of tracks on the device.
    Hover over the number for a textual summary of the tracks.
  5. Device action buttons:
    Cogwheel –  configure device settings (see GPS Logger Device Settings)
    - backup all tracks as GPX files to your PC
    Eject device – finalises any current operations to safely eject the device
    Cross – deletes all tracks currently stored on the device
  6. (Only visible when logged in) Upload all of the tracks on the device to the server.
    If you need to upload only select tracks, see the “Tracks” view below.
  7. View and/or edit the tracks on this device in the Track Map window (see below).

Track Map Window

The track map window allows you to preview your track data, select or deselect tracks, split/trim/filter tracks, add photos and edit POIs (point of interest markers).

Track Controls (Left Hand Side)

Check or uncheck tracks. Unchecked tracks are not displayed on the map, will not be uploaded to the server, and will be removed when closing the map.

  1. Click a track name to select the track. The selected track’s chart will be shown under the map. Use the keyboard to type a new track name in.
  2. Click the Edit button to enable editing of the corresponding track. For more information, see Editing Tracks.
  3. (Only visible when logged in) Uploads the selected tracks to the server.
  4. Closes the track map window. You will be prompted to save the changes on closing.

Track Map

  1. Shows statistics for the currently selected track
  2. Automatically centers and zooms to fit the currently visible tracks.
  3. Toggles between colour, and black & white maps.
  4. Zooms the map in.
  5. Zooms the map out.

Track Chart

  1. Shows statistics from the currently selected track. Hover the mouse cursor over the chart (2) to view statistics for that instance in time.
  2. The track chart showing distance, speed and altitude.
